'I'm very happy that everything turned out well today ... Each medal is very special. The UK team made mistakes, so there was a wide margin [of victory]... But naturally, [what I did] is not enough for the Olympics. I prepared well for beam and bars but I am not ready for floor, I stepped up to help the team. ... To be honest, I did not look at the scores [when asked how the team reacted to the 6.5 gap before the final apparatus]. Gelya (Melnikova) is a good girl, she did everything and did not falter ... Seda fell on quite a complex element. There is more work to do, but everything else went well.' [About a protest taken by the coaches on her beam score]. 'I am used to my protests being rejected, everything is normal!' Via vk.com I n other news , the UEG has confirmed that Spiridonova will replace Melnikova in tomorrow's bars final. No reason is given, but it is generally considered that Dasha has a better chance of gold. This decision also means tha...

do you know if anyone has posted videos of them yet?
ReplyDeleteSee yesterday's post for video links
DeleteDear Queen E,
ReplyDeleteDo you have any videos or news of today's events? I was hoping may be you had video of Seda' beam or Shelgunova's floor? I really enjoy your posts and I hope you keep up the good work!
The Georgian Federation hasn't released official results. There are video links in the previous post - and check RRG's Twitter and Facebook pages for pics of the Day 2 medal ceremonies.
DeleteDo you by any chance know what's happening with Grishina? Is she coming back any time soon? I miss her :(
ReplyDeleteDid something happen to Afanasyeva? I know she was only doing vault but her score seems pretty low. Really hoping she hasn't got injured!!
ReplyDeleteAfanasyeva had a mistake here but is continuing to prepare for Worlds.
ReplyDeleteGrishina's situation hasn't changed since the last time I gave an update on RRG - still recovering from her knee injury and unlikely to train for the Olympics.
No further information officially available.
Grishina gave an interview where she said that she was training for Rio.This was at the beginning of this Summer
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you could give the link!
DeleteHi Queen Elizabeth, I am wondering if this is the article anonymous saw (link below). It was posted July 25th, although it references sports.ru as the source and I can't seem to find anything on Grishina on sports.ru so not entirely sure if it can be considered reliable. I am no familiar this 'wo gymnast' site. Perhaps another reader can help hunt it down. It mentions that Russia posted a list of potential Rio candidates. Courtesy of the RGF. I would be very curious to see such a published list if such an article is out there.
Deletehttp://www.wogymnast.com/2015/07/anastasia-grishina-not-being-included.html?m=1
There was a list and Nastia wasn't on it. Sources close to Nastia tell me she is unlikely to make Rio and certainly she isn't on the official training squad.
DeleteI don't report every minute detail on this blog at the moment - there is too much and everything changes all the time. The best way to determine whether Nastia will even try for Olympics will be to see whether she competes at Russia Cup in September and then at Rusdian nationals in the spring. The list that was earlier published included those gymnasts currently preparing for Glasgow and May well change moving forward.
Re - the 14 July Grishina interview Anon links to above - the main points are covered earlier on this blog - http://rewritingrussiangymnastics.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/russian-national-teams-to-compete-in.html
DeleteSad but Aliya will skip worlds thise year and looks like she not come back to trainings. Chek the rus forum for more info
ReplyDeleteThis assertion is completely false and does not come from a reliable source. Just because Aliya hasn't posted pictures of herself in training for a few days, people are making up rumours about her.
DeleteWe will find out for sure who is on the Russian team on the day that the team arrives in Glasgow. Could we please stop these pointless little speculations for the time being?
I will publish any official news I hear on this blog as soon as I hear it, and will attribute it to the source - but there really is no news at all apart from a few tittle-tattling mischief makers! :-)
Btw on instagram picture : Svetlana Ishmouratova (2006 olympic gold madalist in women's biathlon) and Dmitri Sautin ( 8 time olympic medalist and 2 time olympic champion diver)
ReplyDeleteWell V.Rod is reliable source for you? If yes, then in her latest interview in "All sport " before Batumi she said "Mustafina have enough starts in this season- FIN" What can be more reliable confirmation...
ReplyDeleteI am aware of this interview. It confirms absolutely nothing as regards anyone's participation in Worlds.
DeleteOK, but it's strange bq A.Rod and V.Rod say same words about Aliya "Mustafina have enough starts in this season - FIN" . It will be interesting what will say people when Mustafina will be absent in the request for worlds.( if not mistaken 24 of september by FIG rules) Then you all will understand the meaning of the same words from Rod about Aliya
ReplyDeleteYes - but you know it really isn't surprising that Aliya needs to compete in competitions to be eligible for selection - that is the same for all the gymnasts. I doubt that any of the gymnasts really know for sure if they will compete in Glasgow - yet.
DeleteLet's just stop speculating - we will find out soon enough who will be on the team. And it really isn't that vital that Aliya competes this year anyway!
