I think you might mean Spiridonova for UB, rather than Alla :)
ReplyDeleteOops - yes I did - thank you!
Deletecrazy to think that if Paseka would have competed on beam and scored at least 13.5 she would have won the AA.
ReplyDeleteKharenkova performed FTY only ... when will she upgrade that low tariff vault?

Glad Paseka is NOT doing the Amanar. Wonder what her Cheng looks like! I'm surprised Seda hasn't turned up with a Cheng, though she doesn't really need it yet... hopefully soon. I love that Paseka, Alla and Seda are all being coached by the same coach. Thought this would be the year Masha got her DTY.. I guess I've still got to wait. Pleasantly surprised by Spiridonova's upgrades already on UB, but think Komova's performance doesn't look very impressive. Afan's done well though!
ReplyDeleteLooking at just at the vault rankings, Ithought Alla was probably doing a double twister and probably a 1/2 on 1/2 off vault and that Paseka was either doing that same or she had an amanar. When I looked at the results I found it very surprising to see Paseka with a 6.4 start value for her 1st vault which at this point I assume is a Cheng. I don't know how the form is but if she scored better than Alla on that vault, it can't be too bad. I can't wait for the videos to come up and see how everyone is doing. Very exciting to see Russia slowly becoming the number 2 vaulting nation again.
ReplyDeleteUneven bars, only Daria seems impressive. From her 6.6 start value I can only assume she upgraded which is great. Komova was not impressive on this event. 6.1 SV is extremely low for a former world champion on this event especially since she looked so good SV wise at the Hungarian meet. However, I think the team will be fine once Mustafina comes back on this event and once Komova upgrades.
Balance Beam, Of course the reigning European Champion seems to have been impressive as always. She posted a monster 6.8 SV value and I also see another gymnast down the rankings with a 6.6 SV (I'm guessing she fell?). Komova is looking good in this event; 5.8 and 9.2 in execution seems very respectable. I think Russia has depth in this event as well.
Floor. I am very impressed with Afanseyva. She is far and away, Russia's singular hope for floor aside form Mustafina. Clearly, this is going to be Russia's achilles heel for this season.
Overall, I am definitely impressed with the Russians this time around. They are preforming bigger vaults than they did a year ago and are looking to have strong potential on BB and with Mustafina a good set of bar workers as well. Floor is where they struggle but with Mustafina and Afanseyva, they should be fine. If Russia can keep all of these top athletes healthy, I have no doubt they will challenge for silver at worlds this year. They just need Mustafina back and to keep Komova, Kharenkova, Paseka, Sosnitskaya,Spiridinova (just to name the main ones) healthy and they will be set. I really hope they stop getting injured because this team now seems to be starting to get up there again which I am excited for.
This championship is exciting. I agree with you at all, I just like to mention that, in my opinion, it is too early to judge Seda Tutkhalyan. I think she can improve her floor routine and increase the SV's vault. After all she is already updated her routines from Nanning. Maybe, she can make best. On the other hand, I have my doubts about the Komova's performance and how she might contribute to the team. Again, in my opinion, Vika is only valuable on bars ( and I have my doubts about it if we think russian team has Mustafina and Spiridinova), and as you said that Russia has depth in BB (all russian gymnasts are good on this event)... And that makes me very really upset. I can only cross my fingers and hope for the best to happen Vika Komova. I really hope Vika can fight the constant pain she feels and to raise her level to a champion´s one..
Deletethe other gymnast with a SV of 6,6 is Seda. Last year she threw a twisting layout.
DeleteI am impressed with the fitness of many gymnasts: Afanassieva, Shelgunova, Kharenkova.
Their work seems very polished.
Spiridonova and Komova seem to fly on bars. They look lighther tan Mustafina.
I agree with both you! They are looking great at these championships; lets hope they can all keep it up and let's sew what they can deliver at event finals

DeleteI am really happy to see them coming back, it is early in the season and the winter in Russia is been bad. I think the weather is a significant matter for injuries. Have been working out for over 5 years and I can say that all my injuries have been during Winter. I heard somewhere that the Russians are planning to take the gymnast to Cremia since the weather is likely Rio. I really like SEDA she reminds me to Yelena Produnova. I also want to see Angelina Melnikova and Ekaterina Sokova develop in my mind they should be a contenders for the Olympics
DeleteI'm still sad about Anastasia Grishina's injury. She is one of the most (naturally) talented and beautiful gymnasts I have ever seen. When I first saw her at the 2010 Junior European Championships, I thought she was the second coming of Omelianchik. I really hope she comes back, and comes back strong.
