Aliya Mustafina - floor

Luchinho84 has been uploading videos of today's podium training onto his Youtube channel.

Here is Aliya Mustafina's floor from earlier today.

Latest news: Nabiyeva may well not compete all around after a low landing (to her head) on a floor tumble. She says she is determined to compete, but does not know in what capacity. She is injured, but not seriously.

Fingers crossed that her health is good. And good luck, again, to the whole team.

  1. Does anyone know what qualification subdivision each of the girls will be competing it? USA gymnastics is streaming it but only the ones with the Americans, and i'd like to know if any of the more important Russian girls are going to be in those subdivisions or not. No point in watching if they wont be :)

  2. Rodionova went yesterday, and Nabiyeva would have gone today with Mustafina, but couldn't. Paseka is out, so I do not think we will see any more Russian WAG in PT. You would need to check the full working orders from the FIG website to be certain, though.

    1. I said qualifications but I am going to assume that the girls will be in the same subdivisions as PT right? Thanks!

  3. It's unfair to Mustafina to carry the burden of a whole team, I mean medalling in AA + 4 Apparatus finals, and after that she will get no gratitude from the Rodionenkos ...She's one gymnast team right now and all that because of the lame policy of the Rodionenkos.
If there is any one cares for that team, then it Must be the last worlds under the Rodionenkos' supervision ... and I hope it's the beginning of the end for them.

    1. I know what you are saying but I don't think it would be different even if Afan, Grish and Vika were on the team. I am sure that Musty was always going for maximum medal haul, its not like "Oh now that its just me, I have to win all the medals". Do you know what I mean? The coaches always expect the girls to do their best regardless of who their teammates are. I am sure they would be equally as disappointed in Musty if she did not compete well, if Vika and the others were on the team. If it seemed like they were pushing Musty to compete an event or skill she wasn't ready for, that would be a problem. But she looks 100% up for the task.
That being said I agree 10000000% about the Rods, they have GOT to go it Team Russia is going to become a powerhouse again.

Simone and the others - results and reflections

In the end, it was as predicted : Simone and the others, with Simone's teammate, Alexandra Raisman, providing the back up.  I do not need to point out that, by definition, the Americans are scoring significantly higher marks than the rest of the field.  Congratulations to them! Aliya Mustafina finished in third place.  The 2012 bronze medalist led the competition after vault and uneven bars, but had a very nervous outing on beam that might have taken a less experienced gymnast out of the medals.  A bravura performance on floor brought Aliya back though to confirm her third place all around.  From her senior debut in 2010 to today, Mustafina has continuously set high standards of grace.    It is the first time since 2000 that a gymnast (Amanar) has medalled in the all around at two consecutive Olympics, and  if Aliya can medal on Saturday's uneven bars final, she will once again be Russia's biggest medal winner of the women's gymnastics.  Russ...
