Urazova may not return to national team, says coach Kazakova

It will be very difficult for Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Vladislava Urazova, who underwent surgery on an injured knee in March, to return to her previous high level. This opinion was expressed to TASS by the athlete's coach Liliya Kazakova.

On March 1, Urazova underwent surgery on her injured knee joint during training.

šŸ’¬"Vlada was given nine months to recover from the knee surgery, but she is still in pain," Kazakova said. "Vlada must send pictures of her knee to doctors in Moscow, after which she will receive an answer. For now, she is not training and devoting all her time to her studies."

"It will be very difficult for her to return to her previous level, especially since very strong young girls are growing up. It is difficult to give more precise forecasts, everything will become more or less clear when she resumes training," the TASS interlocutor added.

Urazova is not on the list of candidates for the Russian national artistic gymnastics team for 2025. As senior coach of the national team Valentina Rodionenko told TASS, the coaching staff of the national team has not received any statements about the gymnast's retirement.

Simone and the others - results and reflections

In the end, it was as predicted : Simone and the others, with Simone's teammate, Alexandra Raisman, providing the back up.  I do not need to point out that, by definition, the Americans are scoring significantly higher marks than the rest of the field.  Congratulations to them! Aliya Mustafina finished in third place.  The 2012 bronze medalist led the competition after vault and uneven bars, but had a very nervous outing on beam that might have taken a less experienced gymnast out of the medals.  A bravura performance on floor brought Aliya back though to confirm her third place all around.  From her senior debut in 2010 to today, Mustafina has continuously set high standards of grace.    It is the first time since 2000 that a gymnast (Amanar) has medalled in the all around at two consecutive Olympics, and  if Aliya can medal on Saturday's uneven bars final, she will once again be Russia's biggest medal winner of the women's gymnastics.  Russ...
