The main part of the Russian men's team for Tokyo (minus Golutsotskov who travelled to Ghent for the World Cup) competed this weekend against Italy. A parallel junior team competition also took place, with the Russian team led by 2010 Youth Olympics participant Daniil Kazachkov.
Russia won both the senior and junior team competitions, with Emin Garibov taking the senior all around, and Daniil Kazachkov the junior. It might be a little early to say that the Russian men are rejuvenating themselves, but the signs are quite good at present, despite a clear weakness on the pommel horse. I was impressed by Denis Ablyazin's start values.
International Gymnast carries full results and a news story about the competition.
