    This is a digital photo album based on a set of 1979 Soviet produced postcards celebrating the achievements of their gymnasts. If any of you know the whereabouts of Alexander Tkachev, Gennady Krissin, Vladimir Markelov, or can update any of the information here, I would be most grateful if you could comment.

    I think Tkachev is coaching somewhere in the northwest USA.

    I think he did spend some time at Peninsular Gymnastics and West Valley Gymnastics School - seems however to have moved on ... ?

    Tkachev and gorbik bought one of Rita Browns gyms and are now in Florida. Bilozerchev is in peninsula though. Markelov lives in Moscow and is basically retired. He's still in touch with the gym world, always goes to the Moscow world cup and apparently always knows what's going on. Dont know about krissin but I can always ask my friend who can ask Markelov.

Aliya Mustafina - new interview

Aliya in her new Olympic Games outfit.  The teams were kitted out at the Bosco Olympic centre in Moscow last week 'Europeans went quite well, for me personally and for the team.  There were no big blunders or falls and we were able to show a good result.  If we continue to work in the same way as we approach the Olympics, everything will be fine ... Although of course we will need to do a little more in Rio.  For the Olympic Games, everything will be right. Nelli Kim - 'Russian gymnastics has closed in on itself' - Lupita translates

Lupita has translated this ITAR-TASS interview with Nelli Kim.  It's controversial, to say the least. Ed's note : much of the initial response to this interview - both here and in the wider gymternet -  has focussed on the detail of Kim's words and especially her comments about Viktoria Komova, and smiling.  But I think these have to be taken in context, and not too literally. Don't forget that just a day ago Andrei Rodionenko complained bitterly about the judging in Antwerp, calling Kim's behaviour 'aggressive'.
