Anna Dementyeva - Balance Beam Champion?

Alfi writes :

I found on Youtube Demy's BB routine that scored her 15.600 in EFs. Goodness, it is super packed. If she cleans up the minor balance checks, she will definitely get gold in any competition. Please spread the word.

Thanks Alfi, here's the video.  Enjoy, and comment!

Love Russia!!

Very good indeed, and I love, love the Russian Dementieva, Mustafina and Komova, but there is an American who has over 7 D score, her name is Katelyn Ohashi and I would love to see the Russian well in balance beam, as are in perfect UB

  3. It seems like they are working on the upgrades for the whole of the Russian team. I hope the Rodios dont mess it up.

    Fingers crossed.

  4. Is there any confirmation that this is her EF beam? I highly doubt that this routine scored a 15.6, unless there is some sort of bonus involved. The D-score of this routine is just a 5.9.

'We were a new team, all the girls are young, and it's their first time in such a serious competition.  I think today we performed to the best of our ability.  Yes, we have had two falls today - on the uneven bars and balance beam.' 'The young girls failed  psychologically, but  the first time you compete on the senior podium - it's not very easy.  No  one is sad.  I  am very pleased with such a performance.  Everything  was fair enough, maybe not everywhere and in all things, but overall it was quite as expected, both our rivals, and the judging.' 'I began to experience more pain in the ankle - continued Aliya Mustafina. - To do the dismounts I had to muster all my strength and clench my teeth.  The coaches have d

Fact or fiction? The press, gymnastics and pregnancy doping

It was a Sunday morning.  I was drinking my coffee and contemplating the day ahead - a workout at the gym, shopping for groceries, an evening reading a book, or catching up on last night's episodes of crime thriller The Bridge .  How nice it was not to have to think about work for a day. Then I saw it - a story about the history of doping in The Observer .  Interesting reading. Of course, cheating is as old as the hills.  It is, unfortunately, human nature for some people to try to gain easy advantage in any kind of competition.  That is why we have laws, rules, ethical guidelines.  People who cheat should face justice and shouldn't complain when they are found out. But the story about pregnancy doping bothered me.  Hadn't that been found to be fictional?  The author began with Olga Kovalenko's allegations made in 1994 - but the rumours had started way back in 1991 with the documentary series More Than A Game .  The practice of pregnancy doping was dis
