Plot: the situation with the possible ban of the Russian team from the Olympics - Opinion, commentaries.

According to the Head Coach of the Russian team Valentina Rodionenko, the  team settled down in the Olympic Village without any problems.
Rodionenko denied the information spread by the mass media in Sunday that  the Russian gymnastics team was not allowed to move in in Brazil. She pointed out the team had not arrived in Brazil yet!
“We arrived and moved in without problems. Sill do not understand the source of this canard (“duck” =Literal translation ) without understanding what is going on. The most important thing, everything is OK, all unpleasant things are  behind”, she said on the phone.
IOC declined to ban the entire Russian team, and left an option for the individual federations to decide who could participate at the Rio Olympics under a series of criteria.
“You heard which conditions were the set forth, and we will be subjected to doping controls”, she continued. “They will shake ?? out nerves all right, but our goal is to put ourselves together and have a decent performance despite of everything,  The kind of the atmosphere over there  - this is another question. No other choice, we will fight”.
Rodionenko added they will have no problems with the FIG. “Right away the FIG, even before the IOC decision was saying that it did envision the gymnastics competition without the Russian team:, she added ( my comment – is it true?)

Pongo’s predictions for Russia MAG in Rotterdam

With apologies for any errors, mine entirely and I wrote the brief.   Yes. I’ve treated this as a genuine team-construction problem , rather than simply taking the six gymnasts with the highest AA scores. For the calculation I used the most recent strong competitive score available for each gymnast: the Spartakiad scores for Yakubov, Novikov and Kisel , and mainly European Championship team-final/final scores for Dukhno, Marinov, Zaika and Sieedin , supplemented by Russian Championship scores where a recent European score was not available. Nelli Kim - 'Russian gymnastics has closed in on itself' - Lupita translates

Lupita has translated this ITAR-TASS interview with Nelli Kim.  It's controversial, to say the least. Ed's note : much of the initial response to this interview - both here and in the wider gymternet -  has focussed on the detail of Kim's words and especially her comments about Viktoria Komova, and smiling.  But I think these have to be taken in context, and not too literally. Don't forget that just a day ago Andrei Rodionenko complained bitterly about the judging in Antwerp, calling Kim's behaviour 'aggressive'.
