A big interview with Anastasia Loginova from Sport24 with Lyudmila Roshchina following the Strongest Cup, where the gymnast won four out of five gold medals. We quote several fragments, the full version is available on the publication's website, link at the end.
❓ The Strongest Athletes Cup has recently ended. Did you have time to analyze your performances?
💬 I just rewatched the broadcast, looked at my shortcomings.
❓ Did you set a medal plan for this start?
💬 I didn't think about it. Only that I needed to do my program - and then what will happen.
❓ Did you have time to discuss the competition with your coach?
💬 She praised me, said that I was great. She didn't scold me for mistakes on the beam - on the contrary, she supported me.
❓ Can we say that the beam is your weak spot? This is the only final you didn't get to.
💬 Probably yes. I have this apparatus that is a bit unpolished, so to speak. Treacherous. I need to work with it more confidently - both in training and in competitions.
❓ How did you come to gymnastics?
💬 My mother brought me, because as a child I often climbed trees and other places. Initially, they wanted to send me to rhythmic gymnastics, but it turned out that I ended up in sports.
❓ Do you regret not getting into rhythmic gymnastics?
💬 I don’t regret it at all. I’m even glad - in rhythmic gymnastics, girls are stretched so much.
❓ Did you like this sport right away? Didn’t you ask to take you out of the section?
💬 There were times when I didn’t want to do it, I was tired. I told my mother: “Let's quit.” Then the coach helped, supported: “Come on, just a little more. Don't quit.” In general, I never quit. And now I don't even want to — I haven't had any thoughts about leaving gymnastics lately.
❓ When you were in the youth team, Aliya Mustafina became the head coach of the national team. A strict coach?
💬 No, she is very kind, but sometimes she can be strict. Demanding. We all love her very much — even when we moved to the main team, we still communicate.
❓ Is there an element that you dream of learning, but haven't been able to yet?
💬 Two and a half Yurchenko twists on a jump. I already do it in training, but it doesn't always work out. It's still raw.
