BAKU, June 15. /Spets.korr. TASS Albert Starodubtsev /. Successful performance at the European Games in Baku male and female Russian national gymnastics team competitions indicates that domestic athletes are among the world leaders in the sport. This was stated by the national team coach Tass Valentine Rodionenko.

The winners of gold medals in the first European Games in Baku in the women's team competition became Olympic champion Aliya Mustafina 2012, two-time silver medalist Victoria Komova 2012 and the winner of the Youth Olympic Games in 2014 in Nanjing Seda Toutkhalian. In the men's tournament, there was no equal Kuksenkova Nicholas, David Belyavsky and Nikita Ignatyev.

"None of our guys shells and girls here have committed no serious errors - stressed Rodionenko. - It allows us to look with optimism to the future. "

Second and third place went to the team of women in Germany and the Netherlands respectively. Men silver in a bitter struggle Ukrainian sportsmen got bronze - home team competitions.

"Winning at the Games in Baku was much more difficult than in the European championship - saw Rodionenko. - Let me explain why. First, almost all the teams, except the UK, arrived here in the strongest part, left the house only to those injured. Secondly, here in the national team performs all three men, and the result is two. It is beneficial for those teams that do not have a large number of top-notch athletes. Therefore, for the medals was this bitter struggle. Nevertheless, we managed very confident win in the women's team tournament. Men fight for the awards was, you might say, to the last shell, but our guys ended up stronger. "

June 18 in Baku will be awarded prizes for men and women in the individual all-around, and on June 20 - for the individual shells.

Simone and the others - results and reflections

In the end, it was as predicted : Simone and the others, with Simone's teammate, Alexandra Raisman, providing the back up.  I do not need to point out that, by definition, the Americans are scoring significantly higher marks than the rest of the field.  Congratulations to them! Aliya Mustafina finished in third place.  The 2012 bronze medalist led the competition after vault and uneven bars, but had a very nervous outing on beam that might have taken a less experienced gymnast out of the medals.  A bravura performance on floor brought Aliya back though to confirm her third place all around.  From her senior debut in 2010 to today, Mustafina has continuously set high standards of grace.    It is the first time since 2000 that a gymnast (Amanar) has medalled in the all around at two consecutive Olympics, and  if Aliya can medal on Saturday's uneven bars final, she will once again be Russia's biggest medal winner of the women's gymnastics.  Russ...

Who will travel to Berne? A Russian mystery
