All Russian gymnasts who received neutral status intend to promptly fly to Novosibirsk after the end of the World Cup stage in Qatar to take part in the Russian Cup. This was reported to TASS by the senior coach of the Russian national team Valentina Rodionenko. In addition to Melnikova, the list of Russian participants in the April stages of the World Cup in artistic gymnastics includes Kirill Prokopyev, Vladislav Polyashov, Ilya Zaika, Grigory Klimentyev, Alena Glotova and Zlata Osokina. š¬"All our athletes plan to compete in the Russian Cup in Novosibirsk after participating in the World Cup stages," Rodionenko said. "The World Cup stage in Qatar will end on April 19, the official training in Novosibirsk is scheduled for April 22. When we declared gymnasts for the World Cup stages, the athletes all said that the Russian Cup was a priority start for them. Hi Anon, I don't really know enough about these cases to be able to comment - I wish the FIG could give more detail. In any event, my criticisms if the judging tend to be more about the whole principle of marking additively rather than corruption, which it seems to me is inherent in any system. What do you think?

Delete1. Why FIG doesnāt reveal the names of these judges?
2. subsequently, the names of the countries/gymnasts that they have favored/overscored?
3. Were these judges overscored these countries/gymnasts only or they on a parallel way underscored these countries/gymnastsā rivals?
4. Itās said that some of these judges received a ban and some āwarnedā and my question about those who warned, what they have warned about? Is this related to that favoritism thing or just technical errors?
5. Did they take money or itās just a personal bias?
6. Fig talks about what they call āflaws found in judgingā what are these flaws? What will they do to avoid it? Because it seems to me that itās getting worthā¦
7. Is this used to be in gymnastics in the past? or itās a modern day phenomena? And the frequency in past and present?

So what Komova won't go to Europeans? They are giving her more time to get ready or Worlds, or is she injured again?
ReplyDeleteAh poor Aliya, the pressure on her as well. It will be interesting seeing the youngsters though, hopefully they can do well.
Someone please explain to me why on earth they would send Kramarenko over Rodionova or Fedorova unless they are injured?? Even sending Paseka just for vault would make more sense in my mind. Kramarenko literally brings nothing to the team. With Radio nova they have perfectly replaced Komova on bars and beam with someone who is capable of scoring high 14's on both. Or bring Fedorova for beam and floor and use Sosnitskaya on bars. The only event Kramarenko is decent on is bars, and Musty, Sos, and Spiri are all better. They should just deal with having one FTY, and bring someone who can make up for that difference on bars or beam. With this team, I wouldn't be surprised if Russia was outscored by GB who is looking great on everything except floor. Fingers crossed that this list changes!
ReplyDeleteRein, if this is indeed the final team for Sofia - and it will most probably change again - the only real explanation I can think if is that as an experienced international Kramarenko would be expected to be the team' stable setter, and a steadying influence on all those young newcomers to the team. Either that, or yet another virus has combed its way through Krugloye, leaving only these gymnasts standing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Paseka is a good choice for any team at present, by the way ... A one piece specialist who lacks reliability and who is doing nothing new.
Any news of WHY Komova is out? In Kramarenko's defense, she score 4th in the all around and has good bars and usable floor and vault. She has experience, is steady, and could be plugged in anywhere in a pinch.... uhhh, I thought this was finally Komova's year.....
ReplyDeleteThe news is that Komova sustained an ankle injury in practice and has joined Grishina in Germany to have surgery. This came from Grishina's fan chat earlier today. :-\

Yea, she basically injured it again. For some reason I had a feeling Komova was going to injure that ankle right before Euros or Worlds....but so soon! Wow....it must have been unstable. She definitely needs something done for it to continue as an elite gymnast. Is this the 3rd surgery on that ankle?
ReplyDeleteNastia said that Vika injured the ankle right after Russian Champs and will go to Munich for surgery at the end of April. But she also said that while she lives with Viktoria at the national training centre, she didn't want to speak for her team mate. So this is information which we can discuss amongst ourselves, but I would advise against too much hype. It may discourage the gymnasts from talking if they feel that their trust is taken for granted. Nastia perhaps doesn't realise that we all follow her discussions so closely. So no headlines please to protect Nastia.

ReplyDeleteI am saying it again as i've said it before. The Rodionenkos need to GO. They basically live competition to competition. No long term vision, no strategy, random upgrades and no gap filling. They sit in the hands off seat to show on the media to claim the credit and hold the inferiors responsible if something goes wrong. Everything could go the same way it goes now with them off that seat. So, they need to go, or pay Russia (i.e Mustafina / Alexandrov ) legacy a good bye.

ReplyDeleteI agree. I do think think bringing in a veteran who is so mediocre on every event will benefit them. They have Mustafina. Rodionova has been to a world championship and her bar technique has improved by years. I think she would have been perfect for the team. She should take about the Arabian combo and add a layout. I think her beam would be incredible. Hopefully they change their mind and add her!
DeleteRodionova didn't compete on the other events at the Russian Championships because she TOO is injured! She only trains bars.
