Mixed pairs competition à frippery

I didn’t rate yesterday’s mixed team competition very highly.  For all its trumpeted strategic complexity, the gymnastics just wasn’t that good.

This experiment is one reason that media shouldn’t be allowed to dictate how sports are run.  Mixed pairs competitions have always been a sideline and this one was just a distraction from the historic weight of Euros.  Boguinskaia was 9 times European Champion and now we have gold medalists alongside her who didn’t even score the highest in the competition.

After the AA Esposito will have competed three times across four days with only one break.  It seems wrong that the best WAG gymnast in the competition was made to exhaust herself for this frippery.

Personally, I preferred Race Across the World .. I think those two men should get a medal 🤣

    1. :-). Well maybe some if the coaches could post videos of their gymnasts with their score lines.

  2. Cross-judging competitions is pointless. Judging has always been subjective. You need to check the D-scores over time

Vilyam Gym has videos on YouTube if you want to compare. There are plenty of other channels but he concentrates on the juniors

Melnikova withdrawn from Bundesliga

Angelina Melnikova has issued a statement about her participation in the Bundesliga.     The mayor of Chemnitz has withdrawn the gymnast’s invitation to participate in the final.     Angelina’s words: ‘I didn't receive an invitation to the Bundesliga final. Unfortunately, the public attention and political discussions were much greater than the organizers expected. I am grateful to TSV Tittmoning-Chemnitz for the opportunity to participate in the semi-finals and, most importantly, for their respectful and kind attitude. In Germany, I received tremendous support from spectators, athletes, coaches, and referees. A sports arena is a place where athletes meet each other and demonstrate their abilities in their favorite sport. Sport provides the opportunity to showcase the results of their hard work and athletic prowess. Everyone deserves equal opportunities in all areas of life, and every athlete deserves to compete equally in the sports arena and fulfill their dr...
